About me:
UPDATE:: (March 18, 2009)

I've been battling my weight for a long time. It wasn't until I lost my father in 2004 to heart disease(@ 47), my grandmother the following year(2005) to cancer, and many other family to health driven diseases(I can count about 9 deaths since 2000) When I lost the two closest people in my life (my dad and grandma), I gained about 20lbs in the following months. The day I got serious was when I saw the number 269.9 on the scale. That ".9" was my breaking point. I would not accept 270lbs as my weight, so I lost about 20lbs before I found this wonderful site. I've had many set-backs, but have not and will not give-up.

How I started & What I'm doing now:

When I first started I had to find something I would stick to. I hated traditional exercise so I started out doing Tae Bo and Dance videos, since I love to dance and kick-butt..haha I started slow until I got to advanced. When I hit a 3-month plateau, I knew I had to up the intensity of my workouts so I ventured to the treadmill where I started out just walking to jogging to running by last November. Me? Running? Who would have thunk it..lol I eat healthier also, a lot of whole grains/complex carbs and smaller portions more frequently throughout the day to boost my metabolism. I do not count calories!! It drives me crazy. I just use a little common sense if I'm hungry I eat if I'm not I don't. I just simply try to make better choices when I eat. When I want something, I'll have it. Nothing is forbidden. I don't want to live like that! Plus in the past cutting out things completely has failed me because it increases my want to binge.

Exercise:

Cardio - 50 - 60min 3-4 days a week. I've been running on the treadmil burning about 400-500 calories a day.

Strength training - 35min warm-up on treadmill then push-ups, tricep dips, & abs (my only problem areas), for about 30min

Stretching is important and I always stretch after every workout for about 15-20mi
Who I hope to meet:
Anyone who wants to get healthy and fit like I do and are willing to do what it takes to get there. You'll be my support system and I'll be yours. :o)

Why I want this lifestyle change:

Live a long healthy life

Wear anything and look good in it ; )

Be in excellent shape

So I can set a different New Years Resolution

So I can say I lost over 100lbs(then watch ppls faces in amazement) haha

Be completely unrecognizable @ my 10 or 20 year high school reunion

To go swimming in a bikini..(thats gonna take some time but hey I can do it..lol)

Be confident (the weight has held me back in so many ways)

To become a success story

To be more outgoing and approachable

To inspire my family to do the same

So I can steal sz 8's and 10's out my mother's closet..lol (shhh she doesn't have to know) haha

Diet:
I try to eat small meals 5-6 times a day and make better choices when I eat eating complex carbs!!

Hey girly!! I lost 2lbs this weeks so im starting on the right track. I am praying that i stay motivated and atleast get out of the 200lb range. I dont even care if i just get to 199. I just dont want to have that 2 anywhere in my weight. Im doing pretty good with the food. Im eating smartones and lots of fruits, vegetables and healthy snacks. I would say i eat about 5-6 times a day and only drink water. For exercise I am doing a lot of strength training. I also do a cycling class 3 times a week. Its really helping with toning my thighs. My goal is to start back doing the treadmill as you do and burning 400-500 calories because that really does help with weight loss. Please keep in touch with me
