About me:
While on internship last year, I put on over 10 lbs, although I've struggled with maintaining a healthy weight on and off since my late teens. In addition to the demands of my work that got me off track, I was also recently diagnosed with back problems. I was told to pretty much stop running and to avoid most other exercises I used to rely on to keep myself in shape, including weighlifting. As a result of being limited all of a sudden in what I can do and the ongoing stress, I got discouraged and pretty much stopped exercising for awhile. I also went back to an old habit of resorting to food to cope with emotional ups and downs. At this point I'm trying to resume exercising (still plenty of activities that I can do) as well as to figure out and maintain a reasonable and systematic diet to help me lose weight. I really don't like being inactive and overweight (20 extra pounds may not seem like much, but on a 5-foot person they are). I also need to get my weight down to avoid back surgery in the next few years - what better reason do I need!
Who I hope to meet:
People with similar goals interested in helping each other achieve them. People who figured out a way to be active and not get discouraged despite physical restrictions
Diet:
Generally low-fat little meat heavy on fruit and whole grains
Exercise:
Walking 30-40 min a day light abs exercises yoga
