Female, 52 Years old
Hidden Valley, NV
Looking for:
, Support Buddies
About me:
I am a 50 year old lady looking to spend the next 25 years of her life healthy and slimmer! I am a Family Medicine physician in Reno, NV. I love the outdoors and want to be able to fully participate in all the outdoor stuff there is to do here. I have set a goal to lose at least 110 lbs by 12/31/08. I started in November after a full physical with my doctor and have joined the local gym but it won't open until 02/2008. I plan to workout every day for at least 60 minutes and am starting at home until the gym gets going.

I'm married to Paul and have 3 stepchildren, Bethany 20, Ben 18 and Ethan 14. Ethan may come to live with us next summer and spend his 4 years of high school here and I do not want him to be embarrassed by a "FAT MOM". I know how cruel kids can be.

I also am tired of being a hypocrite about asking my patients to lose weight when I wasn't trying to do the same. I finally figured out that the only thing I have failed at was weight loss and it was because I wasn't givinig it as much attention as I gave to everyone else. I was putting myself last -- like so many of us do.

I have beev overweight nearly my entire adult life. I want to change that line and I don't want that to be my legacy to my children and friends. I'm tired of hearing -- you have such a "beautiful face, if only . . ." So to my way of thinking "if only" is now. No better time, no better place and certainly no better chance of success with this site and all my knowledge! I'm putting my self on the line and giving myself monthly goals and checking in with my doctor every month to make me be accountable. So I'm here for the journey and looking forward to any help anyone can provide and I'll be as supportive as I can, but I have to come first and then all the rest of you! Hope you all do the same and let's get this country off the top ten FATTY List!
Who I hope to meet:
I am a working woman who has lots of responsibilities but still have time to do what is important. I'm looking for support buddies and exercise pals. Need to be pushed a bit right now until the gym gets opened on 2/2008, then the workout will be built into my workday. I'll just go at 4:30am and meet my trainer for the first 10 sessions and then will get to my office by 6:30am and away we go.

I have patients who have been successful and I have had some limited success in the past -- so anyone with good ideas and input is welcome. I love this site and know I'll love those who join the journey
Diet:
I went to a nutritionist and had my basal metabolic rate:1648 cal -- so I'll be counting every one!

exercise ball Power 90 weights and elliptical

Great Advice Great Advice 01/26/2008

Thank you Marie for the great advice. Yes, some days can be very trying for me and you are right about taking care of me. Everyone is affected when I don't have the energy. You sound as though you have a good system worked out to acheive your goal. Very good for you! I will enjoy watching your progress and please let me know if you need an encouragement booster to get you over a hurdle. Thats what we are all here for so don't be afraid to contact me. I plan on checking in daily so help is only a click away.
I like your idea of setting a goal weight. I think I will do the same. I am going to go do some math.... ttyl
